Auto Import Content and Blog Posts to the Social App

You can automatically import content from your blog or website to your Content Library. The importer runs every hour. You can import content automatically from either Google Drive or a RSS Feed.

To auto import content:

  1. Select the Create tab at the top of your Social app, then click on Auto Import at the top of the page.
  2. Select New Source.

 

Import from Google Drive

First, you will set up the Google Drive integration:

  1. Select the Settings tab at the top of your Social app, then click Integrations.
  2. Click Add New, then select Google Drive.

  3. You will be redirected to log into Google Drive, choose the account you want to import content from.

  4. Click Allow to give Marketing 360® access.
  5. A code will be generated. Copy the code.
  6. Return to Marketing 360®. You will be prompted to paste a code to authorize the Google Drive connection. Paste the code into the field provided, then click Authorize.
  7. Click Save Changes.

Once the integration is set up, you will set up the auto import:

  1. Select the Create tab at the top of your Social app, then click on Auto Import at the top of the page.
  2. Select New Source.
  3. Enter a title and denote Google Drive as the Source.
  4. Configure the settings for the content you will import. You can choose to recycle content, require approval, post new content as it's added, and add tags.

    Optional: You can click Toggle Advanced to set up category tags and default accounts for this content if you want.

  5. Check the boxes for the accounts you would like to import content for, or just click Select All Accounts.
  6. Click Next.
  7. The content from Google Drive will be gathered. Choose which pieces of content you want to import, or just click Select All.
  8. Click Import x Item to complete the import.

 

Import from RSS feed

You can import blog posts to your Content Library by linking an RSS feed. What is an RSS feed?

To import blog posts:

  1. Select the Create tab at the top of your Social app, then click on Auto Import at the top of the page.
  2. Select New Source.
  3. Enter a title and denote RSS Feed as the Source.
  4. Paste your RSS feed URL in the field provided.

  5. Configure the settings for the content you will import. You can choose to recycle content, require approval, post new content as it's added, and add tags.

    Optional: You can click Toggle Advanced to set up category tags and default accounts for this content if you want.

  6. Check the boxes for the accounts you would like to import content for, or just click Select All Accounts.
  7. Click Next.
  8. The blog posts from the RSS feed will be gathered. Choose which pieces of content you want to import, or just click Select All.
  9. Click Import x Item to complete the import.

 

What is an RSS feed?

An RSS feed is a computer-parsable representation of a website or blog. In other words, the formatting is stripped from a website and just the text of it is written to a feed. This makes it easier for computers to make sense of rich data to do things like recommend news articles or create new content items for you.

The process to obtain an RSS feed from a blog can very based on the blog's platform. Below are some examples of where you can find an RSS feed on popular blog platforms:

 

Websites 360

Follow these steps to generate a RSS feed URL for your Websites 360® blog.

 

Medium

Add feed to your favorite author's Medium username in the URL. For example: https://medium.com/feed/@author_username


Wordpress

Add feed to the end of the URL for blogs with custom domain names: https://blog.marketing360.com/feed


Squarespace

Open the Squarespace page you want the feed for and append ?format=rss or manually enter the page slug at the end of the URL: http://sitename.squarespace.com/pageslug?format=rss


YouTube

Visit your YouTube channel and copy the Channel ID from the URL. Then, paste the channel ID into this link: https://www.youtube.com/feeds/videos.xml?channel_id=[CHANNEL_ID]


Tumblr

Append /rss to the end of the URL Tumblr page you want to generate an RSS feed for: http://exampleblogname.tumblr.com/rss


Blogspot / Blogger

Append /default?alt=rss to any Blogspot post feed: https://blogname.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default?alt=rss


Weebly

Append /1/feed to the end of a Weebly website URL: http://www.yourdomain.com/1/feed


Shopify

Append .atom to the end of the URL for any Shopify collection: http://www.yourdomain.com/collections/hats.atom


Wix

Append /blog-feed.xml to your Wix website URL: http://www.yourdomain.com/blog-feed.xml
