When a customer adds products to their cart and enters their email at checkout but doesn't complete the purchase, it's saved as an abandoned cart. You can track and recover these carts by sending customers an abandoned cart recovery email. Each email includes the products they left behind and a button to complete their order. You can send these emails automatically or manually.
You can view your Abandoned Cart settings page by going to your Shop App dashboard and clicking Abandoned Carts.
Note: A checkout is considered "recovered" only if the customer clicks the recovery link in the email and completes their order.
Viewing Abandoned Carts
Your store automatically tracks and lists all abandoned carts. To view them, go to My Sales > Abandoned Carts. Each entry shows the customer's contact details, the items they left behind, and their chosen shipping and payment options.

Sending Cart Recovery Emails
You can send abandoned cart emails either automatically or manually.
Sending Automatically
Automated recovery emails are a powerful way to increase sales. Once you turn them on, they will automatically remind customers about the products they left behind.
Go to My Sales > Abandoned Carts.
Toggle the switch to Enabled.
Once enabled for the first time, a reminder email will be sent to all customers who abandoned a cart in the last 14 days. After that, a recovery email will be sent automatically 2 hours after a cart is abandoned.
Sending Manually
You can also send a recovery email to a customer manually.
Go to My Sales > Abandoned Carts.
Find the order you want to recover and click Send email.

You can review and edit the email content before you send it. If you want to change the email template completely, you can edit it from the Settings > Mail page.
Tips for Abandoned Cart Emails
Sending a series of emails can be an effective strategy. Consider sending up to three emails at specific times:
Email 1: Send one hour after abandonment. This addresses any technical issues the customer may have had.
Email 2: Send within 24 hours. Include a cart expiration warning and an incentive like a coupon or free shipping.
Email 3: Send within 48 hours. Offer another incentive or reward to encourage the customer to complete their purchase.
When you write your emails, use a compelling subject line to grab the customer's attention, such as:
"We are still holding your favorite items, don't let them disappear!"
"Hey - There’s something in your cart!"
"It’s okay to be forgetful - luckily, you have us to remind you."
"Why did you leave us hanging?"
