Add a Button on Your Website

Add a Button on Your Website

You can add buttons to your website in a few ways, either through the Pages dashboard or the Design tool. Before you start, make sure you have the URL ready for your button's link. You can also link the button to another page on your website by typing its title.

This guide covers four methods for adding buttons:

  • Add a button within an existing content block

  • Add a standalone button content block

  • Add a button to your website's navigation menu

Add a Button Within an Existing Content Block

You can add a button inside a content block that already has content, like a text or simple list block. This can be done from either the Pages dashboard or the Design panel.

From the Pages Dashboard

  1. Select the Pages tab and open the page where you want to add a button.
  2. Go to the content block and type the text you want on the button (e.g., "Click Here").
  3. Highlight the text, then select the "Insert Button" icon that appears above the description field.

  4. Paste a URL or select a page from the drop-down menu to create a link.

Optional: Click the "Open in a new window" icon to make the button open in a new browser tab. The icon will turn blue when this is enabled.

  5. Click Add and wait for the blue check mark to confirm your changes are saved. The text will then be surrounded by a rectangle to show it's a button.

From the Design Panel

  1. Select the Design tab at the top of your Websites app.

  2. In the preview window, go to the page with the text you want to turn into a button.

  3. Highlight the text and select the Create/Remove Button icon from the pop-up box.

  4. Paste a URL or choose a page from the drop-down menu.

  5. Optional: Click the "Open in a new window" icon to have the button open in a new tab.

  6. Select the blue Save button.

To adjust the button's appearance, click on the Buttons option in the right-hand sidebar and expand the section. Here you can edit the design settings for the buttons in that content block. Click Save when you're finished.

Add a Standalone Button Content Block

Use this method to add a button that stands on its own, not within another content block.
  1. Select the Pages tab and open the page where you want to add the button.
  2. Click the (+) button at the bottom of the page or between two content blocks to add a new block.

  3. Select Button from the menu.

  4. In the Button field, paste a URL or select a page to link to. In the Text field, enter the text you want to appear on the button.
Optional: Click the "Open in a new window" icon if you want the button to open in a new browser tab.

  5. To edit the button's appearance, click Design this page. In the Design preview, click directly on the button. Its design settings will appear in the right-hand sidebar.

Add a Button to Your Navigation Menu

Adding a button to your navigation menu is a great way to highlight an important call to action, like "Apply Now" or "Contact Us."
  1. Select the Pages tab.
  2. Click the + Add A Page button.

  3. Check the box next to Navigation item and click Add. A new page called "Navigation item" will appear at the bottom.

  4. Click on the new page to open it.

  5. In the Type field, select Button from the drop-down menu.

  6. In the Text label field, type the text for your button. In the Link field, paste a URL or select a page to link to.
Optional: Click the "Open in a new window" icon to make the button open in a new tab.

  7. To edit the button's design, click Design this content. On the right-hand sidebar, navigate to the Buttons section to edit its settings.
