Creating and Managing Email Templates

Create and Manage Email Templates

Templates are the foundation for effective email marketing, ensuring every message you send remains on-brand. They are pre-built email layouts that save you time and effort by providing a ready-made structure with content sections, images, or text.

All your saved templates are displayed on the Templates page and can be edited at any time. Any changes you make when using a template to create a new email will not affect the original template.

Create a New Email Template

If you have not created any templates yet, you will see the following options:

OptionDescription
Start from scratchA "blank slate" option with no preset styles or layouts. Use the email builder to create a fully customized template.
Choose a designA library of predesigned emails with placeholder content. Use this as a starting point for your template.
Choose from your recent emails(Only appears if you've used the email builder before.) A quick way to generate a template based on a previous email's content sections.
Upload your own HTMLAllows you to upload custom-coded email templates.

Customize Email Templates

The template customization tools are similar to the email builder, with an added focus on setting Default Styles and using Section Locking.

Default Styles

You can set default styles (like fonts, font sizes, and element colors) for a template. While others can override these styles at the content level, setting defaults ensures a baseline level of branding consistency.

Note: Headings, normal text, button color/text, and text link colors can be overridden within a section.

Section Locking

To prevent others from editing critical elements, you can lock sections within a template. This is useful for:

  • Maintaining a consistently branded Call to Action (CTA).

  • Protecting legal text that shouldn't be edited.

  • Ensuring specific approved layouts or background images are used.
