Learn how to create and manage discount coupons for your online store, including setting up different discount types, applying restrictions, and tracking coupon usage.
Discount coupons are unique codes that customers can enter at checkout to receive a discount on their purchase.
Customers can access the coupon field on the cart page by clicking the "Redeem your coupon" link.
Your online store allows only one coupon per order. The discount amount is applied to the order's subtotal (the total cost of all items before taxes and shipping).
You can create a new discount code for your store with different discount types and restrictions.
From your store admin panel, go to Marketing → Discount Coupons.
Click Add New Coupon.
Enter a Name for your coupon (e.g., "Spring Sale").
Enter an alphanumeric Code (e.g., "SPRING2025") or use the code generated by your store.
Select the Discount type:
Fixed value (e.g., $5 off)
Percentage (e.g., 10% off)
Free shipping
A combination (e.g., a discount plus free shipping)
Set the start and end dates for your coupon's availability.
Coupons are activated at 00:00:00 UTC on the start date and deactivated at 23:59:59 UTC on the end date.
To add limits, click "no limits" and define the coupon restrictions.
Click Save.
You can set up specific rules for your coupons to control who can use them, on what, and how often. You can access this from the Discount Coupons page. Open the coupon to edit it and click no limits to make changes.
